The Move La América Program is a CAPES initiative to promote the internationalization of the National Graduate System and the exchange of knowledge within the national territory. Latin American and Caribbean students interested in participating in the Move La América Program must register through the CAPES Registration System (Sicapes).
Launched in its first edition in 2024, students whose registration is approved by CAPES will receive financial resources to stay in Brazil for a period ranging from 2 to 6 months. In 2025, PPG-CiAC will host 5 doctoral students through the Move La América Program, under the supervision of Professors Fabio Di Dario, Laísa Maria Freire dos Santos, and Rafael Nogueira Costa.

“Master’s and Doctoral students from Latin America and the Caribbean who are interested in complementing their studies in the Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences and Conservation (PPG-CiAC/UFRJ) can apply for the Move La América Program until August 8, 2024.
The PPG-CiAC offers 9 (nine) vacancies for Master’s Sandwich (2 to 3 months) and Doctoral Sandwich (2 to 6 months) in the following Areas/Subjects.

The Move La América Program is an initiative of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) to promote the internationalization of the National Graduate System and the exchange of knowledge within the national territory.
Foreign students from Latin America and the Caribbean interested in participating in the Move La América Program must register through the CAPES Registration System (Sicapes).
The preliminary selection result will be announced by CAPES starting November 8th, with appeals taking place over the following ten days, and the final announcement of selected students beginning on November 26th.
The activities of scholarship students through the PPG-CiAC will commence in the first semester of 2025.

The Move La América Program aims to support the internationalization efforts of Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) by attracting students from Latin American and Caribbean institutions of education and research, thereby strengthening Graduate Programs (PPGs) and fostering an international academic environment.
The program provides scholarships for Master’s or Doctoral students affiliated with foreign institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean, allowing them to undertake internships, research, outreach activities, and possibly attend classes at Brazilian HEIs, Federal Institutes, or Research Institutes, always in areas related to their field of study.
Specific Objectives
I – Complement the internationalization efforts of Brazilian HEIs by attracting foreign students and strengthening PPGs in an international academic setting;
II – Encourage internationalization initiatives at Brazilian Higher Education Institutions;
III – Support the creation and strengthening of cooperation and exchange programs between Brazilian and foreign HEIs;
IV – Encourage partnerships and the development or consolidation of international research networks;
V – Increase collaboration and joint publications between the academic communities in Brazil and abroad;
VI – Provide greater international visibility for Brazilian scientific, technological, and cultural output;
VII – Promote interaction between Brazilian students and faculty with researchers working abroad.
The Move La América Program is implemented through public calls that define eligibility criteria, selection timelines, financial support details, responsibilities, and other necessary elements.
